Hunger Games Rant
I literally cannot handle people who say they’re the “biggest fans” of the Hunger Games without even reading the books. What I can’t handle even more are the people who call themselves the “biggest fans” of the series and read the books because the movies came out and the franchise is finally becoming mainstream. NO NO NO NO NO. ESPECIALLY THE DUMB ASS PEOPLE WHO INTERPRET THE WHOLE SERIES AS ROMANCE NOVELS. YES GALE AND PEETA BOTH LOVE KATNISS BUT THAT IS NOT THE PREMISE OF THE WHOLE ENTIRE SERIES. I admit that I have said in the past that I am team Peeta (he’s the best but that’s besides the point) but I am well aware that there are much more to the books than that. I personally love the books for a variety of reasons, for example Collins’s bleak portrayal of a dystopia and the bleak and cyclically vicious nature of it and her characterization of the characters: Katniss’s internal struggles, her need to protect Prim at all cost, Peeta’s inherent selflessness towards Katniss. But I just can’t stand the people who say they’re the “biggest fans” of the Hunger Games and can’t even tell me what qualities (other than the whole Gale, Peeeta, Katniss triangle going on) of the books they truly loved or what made the books so great and so meaningful to the them.
